This is the quote that inspired the work:

“For happiness one needs security, but joy can spring like a flower even from
the cliffs of despair.”
~Anne Lindbergh (1906 - )

This work…ahhhhh, what can I say? I wanted spring so badly to happen while
I was painting this one, while the snow piled up outside and the wind made
ice form on the dogs noses. I miss my NW mountains, driving down the
Sunset Hwy, looking for Mt. Hood or Mt. Saint Helen’s on the horizon to guide
me to where I wanted to go. The Columbia river always present and willing to
make the spring poppies bloom in a spectacular display along the banks, that
the county workers were ordered to spray with death so they would not take
over, they are weeds don’t you know?

So, I painted my mountains. I painted my poppies. I painted this choir fairy
landing in her autumn colored gown and monarch spring filled wings. She
lands and life returns in an instant to the sleeping land. Her foot just showing
through the knee deep lush green grass and the poppies burst open to show
their throats to the warmth she brings to the land.

I hope you enjoy her, I sure enjoyed learning about her, realizing that I carry
my own eternal spring inside myself. I carry those mountains in my heart, the
salty smell of the wind I carry in my spirit, and the spring poppies are the
blooming of my soul’s desires and fond dreams of a life that sustains me and
my little band of warriors I call family. I can handle that.

May your day be filled to bursting with dreams that come true.
