I was born and raised in the Southern Gulf States. My pain and helplessness needed expression, needed to be outside my head, my heart. I could not even offer the comfort of my arms, and my heart ached for the amount off loss. The Anger That Came After the Flooding. This is how I felt and I named it Blown away. The silver/ray tones are really silver and bronze powders that photograph flat. It is deep and rich and REAL, and full of Joy for the Lives that were Lived instead of those that were lost. They are unharmed on the other side, this painting is for those who survived, sometimes it feels easier for the dead, because sometimes it's the living that scares me to death. |
